Mom's Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce

Image result for cranberry sauce

Recipe Name: Mom’s Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce

Story: I have been making variations of this recipe for over 20 years and have found this combination to have the right amount of sweetness and tartness.

Years you've been making it: 20+

Author / Creator: Suzy (Mom)

Submitted by: Suzy

Ingredients:
3pkg whole cranberries
1 C sugar
¾ C Honey
1.5 C Water
½ C Orange juice
2 whole Cinnamon sticks

Directions:
Wash the cranberries and remove ones that are very soft or appear unripe. The unripe ones are mostly white.

Combine all the ingredients together

Cook for about 20 minutes on slow simmer

Mash the cranberries with a fork or potato masher to desired texture. I prefer to mash about half the berries and leave the rest whole.

Cool, leave the cinnamon sticks in the sauce while cooling.

Put into glass jars and store in the refrigerator. I have found that stored in the refrigerator with a tight seal it can last up to one year.

Notes:
I put a portion of the sauce in small mason jars and give them as gifts to take home after the Thanksgiving meal. It is perfect on leftover turkey sandwiches.
